Dark Slope today announced a major expansion of its production campus at 793 Pharmacy Avenue.

Toronto, ON – November 11 2025 — Dark Slope today announced a major expansion of its production campus at 793 Pharmacy Avenue, transforming the site that housed a church, into a 75,000 square-foot, fully purpose-built studio facility now equipped to support large-scale film and television productions seeking cost-efficient alternatives to downtown and retrofit soundstage spaces.
Unlike many Toronto-area studios retrofitted from warehouses or industrial buildings, Dark Slope’s soundstages were originally engineered for production; no support pillars interrupt sight lines, lighting rigs, blocking, or camera movement. This foundational design is paired with three soundstages and a dedicated motion capture / animation stage, making it one of the few facilities in the region that can accommodate complex physical builds and hybrid virtual production workflows without compromise.
Over the past 18 months, Dark Slope has expanded its footprint from 35,000 sq. ft. to 75,000 sq. ft., adding more than 30,000 sq. ft. of support areas including offices, wardrobe, art build space, meeting rooms, tech bays, and storage — the essential back-of-house infrastructure that larger film and series productions require to operate efficiently under one roof.
“Productions are under pressure to do more with less,” said Dan Fill, President of Dark Slope.
“With this expansion, we are offering something the industry urgently needs: a pillar-free, purpose-built studio environment with the support space necessary to keep all departments on site — at a cost that’s workable. Scarborough is an ideal location for productions looking to maximize value while maintaining quality.”
At a moment when budgets across the screen sector are tightening, the expansion provides a welcome new option for productions seeking lower overhead, less travel between satellite locations, and greater operational efficiency. The Scarborough location also offers easier load-in/load-out routes and on-site parking — another increasing scarcity in Toronto. Also Dark Slope’s large LED volume and highly skilled virtual production team can provide services few other soundstage complexes in North America can match.
The facility continues a long legacy of storied productions at 793 Pharmacy Avenue, once home to projects featuring John Candy, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Jane Fonda, Martin Short, The Rolling Stones, and more. Dark Slope’s recent project slate extends that tradition, supporting films from Andrew Bronfman and Eli Roth, streamer series like Gen V and The Boys, and Canadian productions such as Hate the Player for New Metric /Paramount + Canada and CRAVE’s Heated Rivalry.
